‘Ideas without precedent are generally looked upon with disfavor’ – Harlen Bretz
Postgrad qualifications in Philosophy of Science (Exeter, UK) and I have worked as a lecturer and web developer. I have always had a great interest in anything to do with science and how it is conducted from a philosophical and sociological perspective. After having spent a fairly unremarkable career in looking for the ‘Big Idea’, I have become very ‘hands-on’ after almost inadvertently coming across the puzzle/mystery of Valles Marineris, Mars, the formation of which remains uncertain.
I have discovered that the valleys are in fact curved in a very particular way – a double curvature, which is the hallmark of a sinusoidal curve or periodic oscillation. Why this should be the case and how to get this knowledge more widely known/accepted is my current focus.
